Hurricane Sandy & Cleanup - # - Havocdog's Photos

Pictures taken during Hurricane Sandy on Monday, October 29, 2012, and during the cleanup on Tuesday and Wednesday. For perspective, it shows some of the 16 trees that came down within 300 feet of our house, 15 of which were 50+ feet tall. We were in the lucky 10% of L.I. homes that had electricity during and after the storm.

Monday, during the storm, two doors down on Burr Road looking west. Road blocked and cable lines down. This house is owned by a tree and lawn care guy.

In our woods, one 60' tree fell down acrross the fence, taking a 50' tree down in the neighbors woods. Later in the night a second 60' tree of ours would fall on this one.

The difference in this storm seemed to be that healthy trees were falling, ripped up with their roots - I guess they had the most folliage to catch the force of the wind.
